Portrait of Jim Denomie 2013

Image
Portrait of my dear friend Jim Denomie who posed for Pamela and I after we met doing a Made Here exhibition on the Eblock in Minneapolis.
Description
Jim sat for us and we had many subsequent meetings he became a dear friend, inspiration and support for our art working. These portraits are modular all 41 X 29.5” in acrylic paint with some collage. This portrait is posted on the day Jim died. Sad time but important to remember how much Jim inspired us and inspired so many artist in this community and elsewhere. A truly original painter who created a body of work that helps us see vividly his vision of what became on native Americans suffered in history and in the present day. Jim’s color form and images are very luminous and original witty compositions. We will always miss him.
