I make signs this sign was in the window of the New French Bar In 1987 .i used to frequent this establishment when I was downtown. The Batman Nick Minenko was an old friend from my teaching days at MCAD. I would meet my friend Stu Mead there many times, we worked on a zine project together. We are both painters and we draw. This sign was in a final exhibition at the bar another work was taken down as too offensive which was a surprise to me but then getting censored was nothing new in those times. The signs were hung together one in black and one in pink same text a self portrait I thought, as I was quite down in those days late 1990’s the end of the century . I still have these paintings they are still for sale. Indeed I have sold many artworks over many decades.
